K ids on the Block is an educational puppet troupe that travels to elementary schools across Western New York promoting disability awareness and the acceptance of differences. The program is internationally-acclaimed and the troupe sponsored by the Museum of disABILITY History is one of over 1,700 troupes worldwide!
Chakra Communications recently worked with the Kids on the Block staff to release some new and exciting features to the Kids Corner of their website. This area is filled with engaging areas designed to encourage younger visitors to explore and learn about Kids on the Block characters in their community of Woodburn.

These new areas include:

• The Woodburn Gazette : Here information is updated regularly about the goings on at Woodburn School.
• The Computer at the Woodburn School: Here visitors can ask questions of specific Kids on the Block characters and get answers right away.
• Crate a Critter: An interactive area where you have to put the critters in their proper crates.
• More exciting enhancements are planned and will be coming soon.

The Kids on the Block program was established in 1977 in direct response to Public Law 94-142, also called the “mainstreaming law” which required that children with disabilities be educated in the least restrictive environment. The puppets were designed to create a comfortable environment that would allow children to openly discuss their questions or concerns. During this time, myths and misperceptions are replaced with facts and sensitivity.
